Learning how to Meditate

It doesn't matter whether you are young or old, learning how to meditate is achievable by all. No special abilities or features are needed, all you’ve got to complete is sit down and be.

Teaching the mind to do this state of being is concentration. Which means performing a task slowly and quietly without being diverted and so that you can focus your attention on thinking one thing at a time.

These days’ people’s lives are so busy and full of activities, most of us find it hard to think one thought at a time. Learning to meditate will help you to achieve this. Being in a situation of non-doing teaches you to still the mind and reduce through the countless mental chatter.

You can learn to quieten the chatter by not getting caught up in the thoughts that go racing through your mind, simply let the thoughts occur then release them.

This does take practise, some people take longer than others, the point is you can do it and you will find the effort is worth it because the less thoughts you have running through your mind, the clearer and more focused your mind will be.

Meditation teaches you to become more honest with your self, you will be more likely to have a more beneficial approach to life. Compassion and knowledge are two features related with meditative traditions, you are able to achieve this through a true understanding of the mind states. This can be attained if you commit yourself to daily practise. Start out by sitting for as long as you are able to, five minutes is preferable to not at all. The more practise you do the easier it becomes.

Just remember, you can do it. Positive thinking will help you to achieve your goals, always think I can do, not I can't do and you will succeed. For more information on Meditation which includes some easy techniques in case you need or want some help to get you started.
